Kryptopyrrole disorder

February 1 2019

Hello to February guys!

Todays blog won’t be too long but its about kryptopyrroles or pyroluria. It’s the buzz words of late. People with anxiety, panic attacks, schizophrenia, depression, explosive temper, joint pain and many other symptoms may have this condition. In this day and age many people are coming down with these symptoms and our fast pace lives are leading us to be burnt out and depleted in nutrients. A lot of the symptoms can be misdiagnosed as other conditions and people find themselves taking medications which may not work completely.

Now what is kryptopyrroles? Pyrroles are a result of synthesis of haemoglobin. There is an excess of pyrroles (abnormally), and these attach themselves to zinc and B6 which affect their use in our bodies. This can affect neurotransmitter function and this is why it can lead to mood instability. It can be genetic, but it also can develop from exposure to stress either environmental or emotional.

This condition is also suspected in children with ADHD and autism. There is testing for it and a naturopath can assist with this. Diet, supplementation and herbal medicines as well as lifestyle modifications can help with this condition. Remember if you have mental health issues to see a counsellor or psychologist and help with your psycho-emotional symptoms. Life line is excellent if urgent 13 11 14.

Having a special interest in anxiety, stress and adrenal fatigue and burn out this subject I really am keen to look at. There are many reasons for mood instability or depression and anxiety. Sometimes it is related to trauma and stress in life in general. Yet with the concept of kryptopyrroles makes us realise the genetic component as well as nutritional and biochemical causes. If you know what you are dealing with then your quality of life can be markedly improved.

I hope this has been informative and I look forward to helping some of you. Much love.

Lisa
